-Doing the Right Thing

Sometimes l tire of doing what others require
What is expected and to appease
When in honesty the answer is “No Thank you”
Instead l voice “Yes Please”

An invitation to a gathering or event
I do not wish to attend
At the risk of being anti -social or rude
l partake reluctantly not wanting to offend

I wish l could be totally honest
Without judgement or scorn
Politely say “Sorry I am not interested”
Without feeling guilty and torn

Sometimes l tire of doing what others require
Not making the decision for me
So as not to rock the boat
Creating waves on the calm still sea
