Dog People
Everybody assumes
you like dogs
especially their dog
sprung from its tether
breaking for you
this morning
all a-scud over the gravel
propelled by yeasty, toothy
gushing grins
homing in on you over there
fossilized, frozen by
by the dumpster’s Gape,
one less
cat person
the world won’t miss.
