Dog Lessons

My dog is smarter than most humans today
He always stops on walks to smell the flowers
He appreciates freedom, running, fun and play
He smells beneath snow and ice during showers

He was smart as a puppy and trained in class
He also knows many words he hears, quite a brain!
He sees people far away so he doesnt need glasses
So protection and safety from his alerts, I gain

He gets excited when I laugh or if I dance
Loving life from the morning to night
Sometimes on his walks he will prance
Like a horse in the field during daylight

He is full of love, overflowing to see
He makes other people smile a lot
I am grateful for such a blessing to me
For all he has already done and brought

She asked if I still have him when they live across the street and I am outside with him every day. I think it was the sudden loss of her father that made her ask.
