Dog: Forward Or Backward

Word "dog" is "god" spelled backward, yes? And both could be a friend, A bone you throw to Deity Might save you in the end. Most dogs will stay in family yard, Are never far from home, But God is always everywhere, He has no need to roam. And all that either asks is "love," Would back rub be too much? A shared meal and a pint of prayer Can help you stay in touch. Forgiveness is their forte too, Their watchful eyes foretell, You think that you have blown the gig, But still, are doing swell! A dog is nature's way to show A home is not a zoo! You don't need bars to keep him in, The problem's pee and poo! Though dog may have an accident, Your God is potty-trained, He mostly picks up after men, God's cleanliness ingrained. And training God is just a snap, You listen, rarely speak, His treats are worth far more than gold, Correction, not critique. And dog or God would have you know Love always finds reward, So take your licks, throw balls and sticks, Be humble, "All aboard!" Long Tooth March 28, 2017
