Doc, These Pills Are Killin' Me

Seems each time I visit my doc he recommends more pills for my health!

I'm not sure they're effective but this I know, they're depletin' my wealth!

And with all the side effects, I'm really concerned about my early doom!

"He expired from excessive medications!" might aptly be etched upon my tomb!

The list is endless - Diuretics, Beta Blockers, Nexium, Advil and Tylenol,

Alpha Blockers, Vitamin D, Zantac, Zocor, Micardis and a bit of Timolol,

Carisoprodol, Hydrocholorothiazide, Alphagan, Moltrin and Fosamax,

Hydroxyzine, Caltrate, Phillips Milk of Magnesia and some Atarax!

The black-box warnings say I could suffer everything from dehydration,

To blurred vision, dizziness, diahrea and a serious case of constipation!

My Pa seldom saw a doc and lived to the ripe old age of ninety-four!

He survived by sippin' SSS Blood Tonic and usin' horse linamint for

His aches and pains and other such stuff peddled by the Watkins Man!

I may toss the bottles and use his home-remedies to increase life's span!

Good serious dilemma, the problem or the side effects. I'm with you on this one. I hate all these meds I take. Take care, Jen

The side affects, the side affects, man what are we to do. When not a year goes by that we don't catch the flu. They say the shot is how you got the darned stuff anyway. Not that I'm saying don't get the flu shot. I'm just trying to rhyme like usual. Stay healthy my friend. :)

Got a big kick out of your list of side effects! LOL Before retiring, I was a graphic designer working mainly to promoting these "life saving" pills. Got a look at them from the inside! Fun write about a serious problem!

I know how you feel Bob, I'm down to the simple things like vitamin C and cow teat cream for my face. Works wonders! :)

Thank you for the giggles in my breath. They say laughter is the best medicine. I had a pretty good dose then. Loved this poem Robert. Smiles sent your way, Connie

I know what you're talking about, it seems like we are killing ourselves with all the medications we are taking to help us live longer or to be without as much pain as we would otherwise have! This write is stupendous my friend, you have masterfully written another glorious poem Bob! I really enjoyed reading this delightful and significant piece this afternoon! Quite the perfect write, Great Work!!
