Do You

Do you hear the sirens and see the flashing blue lights When you wake early in the morning before first light And hear the weeping as you stand When a face appears without command Does a voice remind you of the night When you fought hard for another’s fight And now when the silence takes a hold Do you get a shiver and your blood runs cold Do you see the dwindling faces Of mates who have run their own races And in your gathering eventide Do you wonder as your years fade. © Paul Warren Poetry
