Do They Hear Me?

Crying into my grandmother's hands
My mother dressed in her flattering hospital gown
The doctor doesn't dare slap my behind
My female guardians have powerful glares

Screaming against my mothers flesh
She presses hard to stop the bleeding
And rushes me to the car
Running red lights to reach the hospital in time

Banging on doors
Which one
Where is she hiding
I need my mommy
I am after all only ten

Some one hushes me
The coffins are lowered into the dirt
I am alone
Sobbing silently

Wow...this is such a powerful poem, seen through a child's eyes. I lost my mother at a young age, it happened very suddenly, this brought such emotional memory back to me. Sad but well done. ~Carrie
