Distantly Close
When cupid took control of my pen,
I moved in reverse to the distance then,
And I tried to capture the piercing arrow that;
Thrust itself violently through my fragile heart…
It’s so difficult to love and fail to hold,
Especially when; in this heat, there’s so much cold,
I want to hold you close to my stripped chest,
And feel the warmth of your honeyed crest…
I have tried to banish from my mind,
This love that is now a concrete sign,
It stays deep down at the bottom of my heart,
And that’s why it has been so hard…
Not again will I love like this;
In constant want of your soothing kiss
The tempting warmth of your inviting look,
That has filled the pages of my empty book…
You’ve washed me clean this very moment,
Only by this your single statement,
Never again will I speak those words;
Gone forever should be the records…
