Distant Things

Deep down lurking,
The subconscious memories live,
Actively waiting,
Pages upon pages,
A lifetime of data,
Positive and negative,
Distant things logged,
All fighting for first place,
Who would get to be?
In the forefront first,
Popping up in times not expected.
“I’m the reminder”
One thought said,
“Remember me!
I’m a part of you! The bad!
Hard times that made you feel sad”
I’d love to stay.
No! No!
Good time memories speak,
“I come with good news,
Not the bad,
I’m the beauty, not the beast,
Happier times to remember,
Love is what I’ll bring,
Colourful memories flowering,
Thoughts of spring,
I’ll make you sing”
Catching it quick that distant thing.

Our subconscious, always fighting with itself, do good memories make us good or just mask who we really are. A deep well written piece Wendy.

There are those good memories but interlaced are the bad which they say that we remember the bad more than the good which is sad isn't it.Enjoyed reading your contest entry..Reads like a winner..Thanks for stopping by..Sara

I love how you went with memories. Mine was kind of that way too, Wendy. we were thinking along the same lines for distant things. I bet that says something about our personalities!!
