Distant Fires of Lost Hope

Distant fires
Smoke rises into a cloudless sky
Cries of torment fill the blackened sky
Stars sparkle as they look down
They see a world depressed
No money
No food
No hope
The world raises their eyes
Looking to the heavens
Trying to find a spark
A sign that everything will be alright
Planets traverse the blackness
A million stars shine bright
Too far away to hear a prayer
All the voices crying in the night
Calling for a being who will care
Asking for a little piece of hope
The stars, the planets hear but continue on their travels
They do not hear
They do not care
We are on our own
We are all alone
