Disposables

A banana peel littering the sidewalk A candy wrapper lying carelessly on the parkway An aluminum Coke can, crushed, by the side of the curb Cigarette butts scattered randomly on the pavement A plastic diaper stuffed into a trash container A ballpoint pen, squished, bleeding in the roadway A torn knitted glove abandoned on a park bench Sunflower seed shells strung along a sandy beachfront trail A careless remark, tossed out haphazardly, devastating a reputation A promise broken, unintentionally, rattling around our soul A lifetime of effort, squandered, forever unappreciated Love spurned, nonchalantly, rending our fragile heartstrings

We are such a disposable society, it is certainly more prevalent than it was ever before. When I was a child we saved everything and made boxes, and airplanes and cars and dolls and other things out of almost everyone's discarded cans, boxes, belts or scarves. It is a different time for sure. Nicely written.

Gershon, I love the way you worked yourself to the last verse where it became more personal! Some great writing, my friend!

man's not much better than his animal nature...doesn't even have the imagination to take care for his planetary home

Disposable planet... Maybe we'll come to our senses when we're made to realize that it's not just our atmosphere that we've ruined. We've probably polluted half the universe...
