Notes About The Poem

Dismal Mood

Wistful and withdrawn, I wander through the night Feeling grim and melancholy, a shroud of darkness tight Depression grips my heart, its hold is strong and true A gloomy cloud above me, my feelings all askew I hanker for light and happiness, a break from this despair But all I grasp around me is darkness everywhere I strain to shake the sadness off, to find some peace of mind But my views castle pulling me down, leaving me behind So I walk on, lost in whimsey, seeking a way out Hoping that tomorrow will fetch something to shout about For now, I’ll hold on walking, through darkness and pain Hoping that somehow, someway, I’ll find happiness again. For some portentous events, unostentatious activity Without the extra burden of strained, searing captivity. Written: June 05, 2023 Eight Word Challenge Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Emile Pinet

Lasaad, your dark journey, in the end, is infused with light in the darkness. A choice that you make to return from melancholy's grip. Your eloquence enchants the articulation of your words and gives them impact! Blessings to you dear friend as you seek the light.

I hadnt read this before. So proud to know such a gifted poet. The first stanza ecapulating every one of Emile's words, and then to go on to such such sorrow, seasoned by the flavour of hope. A truly wonderful display of emotion. Congratulations.

Depression is the most awful state of mind. Mice depiction in words.
