Dining Alone
Dining alone though the restaurant’s crowded,
Nothing created has filled empty chair,
Friend was expected, arrival now doubted,
No chance to call her, my phone needs repair.
Nothing’s a space that sometimes provides nothing,
Creator’s spirit is absent of late,
Jumbo jet passing is carrying something,
Air has more substance it seems than my date.
Dinner alone though’s not always disaster,
Chance of my screwing up future is past,
New poem lives now because it bypassed her,
Words on a page with a chance they might last!
