Digging

DIGGING They’re in there somewhere but Looking for my poems Is mining among rubble for nuggets of gold Mounds of waste and very little In the way of shining value Digging down dark tunnels of the mind Scratching at the unyielding walls Till a tiny shiny scrap Falls in my hand and I clutch it Desperately lest it is lost Then polish it hoping to make it Reflect what I see in the world.
