Dig a Well
Travelling in through fields and trees we did not plant,
we moved into houses and barns we did not build.
Pilgrims think, “This is swell!” when God says, “Dig a well.”
Freedoms we enjoy, not just some government grant,
schools, churches and liberty were someone’s hard work.
Enrich what you’ve been given, why just rave and rant?
Leave this world a better place than when you arrived.
Dig wells of hope and while you dig, join those who chant,
“I live; I want to sing - God’s plan I have fulfilled.”
When God says, “Dig a well,” pilgrims think, “This is swell!”
Swell it would be, never to have answered, “I can’t.”
