Different Times, Different Ways

In my attic I found a toy,
A toy I cherished as a boy.
Just a wooden, simple thing
A bat and ball and elastic string.

I remember giving it a thwack
Laughing as the ball shot back,
My brother cried " Let me try"
It swiftly smacked him in the eye.

Oh the laughter still I hear,
Happy times from long gone years.
An old man now, here I stand
Childhood memories, in my hand.

Simple pleasures, treasured days
Different times, different ways.
The internet is where it's at,
But I had more fun, with my old bat.
