Different

My son was saying
I might get my ear pierced
or get a tatoo
every kid wants to prove he's different

that's true I said
every kid does it,
to prove he's different
and yet what they really prove

Is that, they are the same
to be different
all you really need to do,
is don't do anything

It's, in not doing anything,
that we really
prove we're different,
you don't have to conform

we can choose to be
and individual
in fact each of us
already has

different likes and dislikes
we dress different
we act different
we are different
