Mahavira, son of King Siddartha and Queen Trishla, ruled kingdom, now part of Bihar ( a State of India). At the age of 30, Mahavira renounced his kingdom, gave up his his princely possessions and spent 12 years as an ascetic. He went on to establish the central tenets of Jainism.
