Didn'T Understand

Under the bright city light, I didn’t understand, Your transient-playful energy, I could understand Caught—Logic? Love? “Live for now” you told me, memories blurred of that cold moon, I couldn’t understand Dark whiskey and beer, warm pub seats—Big Buck Hunter, playful words—no escaping cupid’s lyre, I would understand Greenwich took us in—as travelers, together, for a short month Georgia girl, savannah smile—so sprite, that, I could understand. Staten Island bound on the ferry, and your lips Unavoidable wreckage—hurricane sandy looms, I shouldn’t understand No words for now, save the sorrow for later—time to love Such a choice Joshua Cody, to be naïve—in good taste, I would understand.
