Did We Win

Oh we set a ferocious pace

Dashing along with the human race

The finish line it was not quite clear

Hurry, hurry we have nothing to fear

Goals and dreams or so it seems

Cloud filled skies of all the schemes

Fatigue filled nights of frightened dreams

Hungry children’s echoed screams

Not as fast as the very best

Respite denied there is no rest

Twilight comes to tired souls

Detritus scattered upon life’s shoals

Time to face our hard earned fate

Pray to God it be not locked gate

Yes we set a ferocious pace

However did we earn his kindly grace?
