Did We

We live in a country where corruption counts.
We live in a country where hate counts.
We live in a country where selfishness counts.
We live in a country where greed counts.

Homelessness, domestic abuse, poverty, fear, Covid, welfare don’t seem to matter in this country of ill clatter.

When did we turn our backs on each other?
When did we accept the lies from privileged eyes behind false smiles that will ultimately destroy our civil liberties?

When did we give up on our hard earned, blood splattered democracy?
When did we piss on our dignity?
When did we stop saying NO to tyranny?
