Did It Hurt

Did it hurt?
Well,
of course I felt the pain...
Yeah, it left a mark;
An imprint on my brain

But nightmares don't control
The dreams that I maintain,
The experience did affect me
But my character didn't change

My perspective is still positive,
There's no hatred in my veins;
My mind is refreshed,
And bearings rearranged

I was shook by the thunder
And damp from the rain,
But overall, much less was lost
In comparison to what was gained

Did it hurt?
Well,
of course, fire burns,
And the blade of betrayal
Cut a little more than I deserved

I felt little cheated,
Like my cry went unheard,
And I acquired a reputation
That I really didn't earn

I could've gotten upset
And sought vengeance in return,
But I accept it for what it is,
A simple lesson learned

At the end of the day,
Karma always makes it's curve;
Because the thing about them tables
Is that they always turn...
