Did I Let You Slip Away

How could you?
How could you have seen?
What you meant to me so long ago.

When dreams were my reality and
I could find no way home, you
stood by me and called my
name in soothing melodies.

Where have you been lately?
Why did you let me slip away?
How could you know?
How could you have seen?
What you meant to me so long ago.

This shell that God has given me
on loan, caressed you in my
mind, sweet dreams of
you and me.

I pushed you away in your world, alone,
and stumble around in mine, living
inside memories.
Where have you been lately?
Did I let you slip away?
