Diabolical
True note: I was married and pregnant, supposed to go to Alaska with my husband. The Senior Chief looks at me and actually says: Did you ever think of having an abortion?
Another loved one was in danger of a similar happening.
Thus I take the subject very seriously, as a mother bear protects her young from villains.
How diabolical to think human life is but a plastic doll.
— YOU CANNOT HIDE by Panagiota Romios
How diabolical to think human life is but a plastic doll.*
It’s a magic trick, the saw across the horse.
Arms hanging out of holes, the head too —
they’re spent. Hashtag to all the humans we hate.
Shall we toss the pieces into the garbage salad
or wrap them up to go — oh how awe-fully
the chef describes the seasonings of life.
Oh the madness! The insanity! The genius
hides behind the curtain — it’s curtains,
over pried open knees meant for love and delivery.
Instead…
a cutout of a paper doll, a shadow of evil
as the puppeteers break out in applause
and the screams are hidden unto judgment day.
