Diabetic Type 2 I Am

For me the past six months
has changed me so very much
I've reached what I had dreamed
pounds of weight now I can touch

For me, 12 stone 2 pounds seemed so far
as in years past I ventured to reach
too many chocs were my downfall
now it's only the odd square I breach

That date at the doc to test my blood
way back in winter time was not very sweet
my sugar was way too high for my good
so now must be strict about what I eat

Then I weighed in at 13 stone 6 and a half
so low sugar diet was now truly due
it's amazing how the pounds have shed
so astounding it all becomes true

So now having achieved this mountain
look back with so much wonder
looking to overcome diabetic type 2
knocking it down like mighty thunder

(This is written about when in the past six months since I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 and Dr put me on a low-sugar diet, showing how good things come from bad things, and now feeling the healthiest I've been in many years.)

Gordon I am glad you were able to control your sugar and now are aware so you can be proactive. Diabetes is no fun. I loved the rhyme and flow staying with the subject matter.

I too am diabetic, I admire the act that you have taken the drs advice and reaping the rewards of that. I have had diabetes for over thirty years and it has caused serious eye and other diseases over the years. I am eighty five now and apart from old age problems diabetes has caused many other diseases which when I was first diagnosed I was unaware of. It is very important that you continue to look after yourself as it is an insidious disease Take care of yourself Gordon, Shirley

Hi Shirley, Thanks for your encouraging words, so sorry to hear about you suffering diabetes for so long, I'm 69 and having had prostate cancer 7 years ago which is now under control, since having diabetes type 2 my eyes were tested ok and now due to have my feet looked at as have had long history of large nails breaking off but hopefully will be ok. Take care of yourself too. Blessings always, Gordon

Dear Gordon. Thank you for sharing your story with us. Be proud of your accomplishment to regain health especially how tempting it is with foods or drinks that are very rich with many ingredients. Take one day at a time and if ever you find a moment when you have a small piece of temptation don't be hard on yourself. Have that one small satisfaction and then regroup to the appropriate diabetic level for yourself. Again congratulations on climbing the mountain. Blessings always (smile)

way to go Gordon - I am made up for you with your weight loss and I expect the doc is delighted. hubby is type 2, he had a high level after Christmas 2021, the nurse wanted to increase his tabs, he said 'no let me have 6 months' to turn it around , he changed his eating, exercised more, lost over a stone and had kept it off with our dance lessons and walking on a regular basis and his blood sugar and cholesterol are right down:-) hugs Jan xx
