Devotion

It's hard to have you look into my eyes
My soul it shows so much pain
A reflection of my fractured life
I wish to keep locked away

It's hard to feel you touch my flesh
My body rejects the feeling
From many who have come before you
They bruised and battered my image

It's hard to have you tell me you love me
My ears they want to play dead
For it means I have to open them up
And reciprocate the feelings

It's hard to feel the love you give
For it's rejection that I fear
For words that fall from your lips
Could be phony without any meaning

Actions are what speak to the heart
Factual and true
So if you really mean what you say
Than my darling I love you too
