Deviants And Divine

One night I 'met' someone I thought was meant for me.
We 'talked' for hours while our souls aligned perfectly.
Each night brought our minds to blissful sync.
Sometimes I worried, "What does he really think?"

He adamantly professed his love for me
And beguilled me with ethereal poetry.
His silver words so mystically divine,
I thought them from a higher realm than mine.

He captured my heart totally in his net.
When the scam was revealed, I only felt regret.
Alas, nothing on the dark web is what it seems.
Just another deviant low-life crushing dreams.

What an awful experience, I hope this did not really happen to you, and it is fictional... Congratulations on your placement in the contest..

SO, i based this poem on my neighbor's experience. I am not a very trusting person of life in general. Thank you for considering my poem. Your contest gave me a platform for a warning I wanted to convey. I enter contests to bring attention to my poems. Without readers, poetry is lost in dead air. I see many poems on PS that sit without a single view and it's a shame. Perhaps this site is just too big and we are too busy to reach everyone. I appreciate your encouragement over the years. It has kept me going on this site. I will continue to write and seek out the poems others may miss. We all have something to say in our own way. Your friend in poetry, Jan
