Determined

For all the things I've been through,
I will not give up my fight.
For years, I just went with the flow,
listened to people tell me my faults, flaws, and screw-ups.

I couldn't get away,
I shelled up and withdrew myself.
Tried to stay out of the way, become invisible,
with out success, Hell got hotter.

When
I deserved credit,
I got silence and looks.
For months I couldn't get away
from my past, but now I've succeeded.

I got away from most of my past,
became happier, free, and someone new.
I make my mistakes, now there's not as much criticism,
now I can learn from them myself.

I'm determined to not be
what everyone said I'd be while on my own.
To not be another status in America's
teenage death, pregnancy, rape, etc. poll.
