Destined For a Prayer

We are a race that has become corrupt towards one another
Sometimes forgetting that we are sisters and brothers
We fought so hard to be educated and free;
Now, in the nineties, we are on a killing spree.
We're going through both a recession and a depression,
Therefore, there is a lot of turmoil and transgression.
Sometimes, I wonder, "is there a way out?"
But, through the Lord, there is no doubt,
We sometimes want to go alone and cry;
Just let the tears come forth, from which they hide.
Black males are becoming an endangered species,
(If not me) that leaves us speechless.
Our children have no fathers and our families are broken;
As predicted in the Bible, the words are now spoken.
While sisters and mothers are grieving and crying,
Brothers, at a rapid rate, are dying.
There seems to be no help, but I have the answer;
The one and only God, our master.
No one can save us; not the Governor, President, or the Mayor,
Lord knows we are destined for a prayer.
