Desquamate
DESQUAMATE
desquamate they say
is to shed the outer layer of skins,
but how often do we
take onboard others opinions,
said,
wrote,
expressed,
in haste,
disgust,
in hateful scorn,
and then we become
owners of a thin skin,
as barbs penetrate
and strip away,
our vulnerabilities of worth,
however with praise,
and a raising up of one
an overcoat of hope
becomes our protective membrane.
