Despite Everything

A star was running
Through the clouds one night
And I told her:
Take me away!
But the moonlight was braiding my hair
And the sky wrapped me in a long
Indigo dress and the star was gone
Once, I was sitting in a park
Surrounded by dead leaves
I spread out my pain
Under an old oak tree
But the dusk came down
And I started drinking
Its scarlet wine
Despite everything, I embrace life
Despite its cruelty
I can always find some scene,
Some face which cheers me up,
Illuminates my path
And nurture my dreams
