Despair and Hope

Despair, Walk the city streets in the dark of night; you will find it there As the number of homeless rises like a disease, does anyone even care? Despair, As a man has to face his family with the news he has just been laid off He worked so hard for them for many years, apparently not hard enough Despair, Another innocent child is killed in a drive by shooting, it is a damn disgrace No one sees anything, as the shooter becomes a man without a face Despair, As a teenage boy battles thoughts of suicide, his peers tell him he will never quite fit in They ridicule and torture him until he is at his breaking point and is ready to give in Despair, As another addict overdoses as the drug has now taken total control He was a good man and tried to kick it many times but the drug has taken its final toll Despair, As she does not want to be at home with this abusive man, but has nowhere else to go He has them all fooled for he knows how to punish so that the bruises do not show Despair, As a drunk driver takes another life but his money allows him to simply walk away We have to come up with something that shows them that they have to pay Despair, There is so much despair every where you turn, it sometimes makes me think My life is not that bad at all these simple things should not push me to the brink Hope, Hope and faith go hand in hand, we use one to fuel the other as we struggle to find our way I speak of this despair and hope, so that it may enlighten you, so we can strive for better days Hope, We must open up our hearts and learn how to share before it has become too late Become instruments of peace and love before despair turns into this world’s final fate The End By Greg P
