Desiring a Crack In the Darkness

Black coldness surrounds me
Following my every step
It moves with me
Through a world of light
Never allowing it to ever enter
But I know it is there
The lightness is there
Unable to reach my heart
I only wish and pray
That a crack would form
It only need be infinitely small
No wider than a hair
Creating a prism of color
Giving me a second of a dream
A dream of something, someone to desire
Yet even that second would fade
And my life
My sad excuse of a life
Would once again be surrounded
Surrounded by the black coldness of despair
