Desires From the Heart

When I was younger I wanted to be a ballerina. So I taught myself to dance because mama couldn't afford to put me in dance class. I made good grades and I got a scholarship to a prestigious dance school. Once I got there the instructors were hard on me and pushed me hard. I found out later that they did it because they saw a beginner dancing like a pro. They noticed my gift and skill immediately. I was going to go far and I was going to go abroad and dance all over the world. But my dream of being a world re- nowned dancer died when I was eighteen. I was in a bad car crash that left me paralyzed from the waste down. I just want to dance again…...I crave it I hunger for it……….just hunger for it 7-26-19 Alexis Y *Too Late For Contest Inspired by the "Hunger" contest Sponsor: Silent One

I have missed many contests, and know that there was a reason that the prompt invited a new poem. Sometimes my best poems were inspired by contests, and I have to be satisfied with that. This is a very sad write, but it is true probably for someone, and I hope not you!

Wow. This is a real heart-breaker. I hope that this is fictitious. … What isn't fictitious is how compelling it is. Too bad it missed the contest. :) gw

Hello Alexis y. I just read this poem. I also like WW comment below. I have had broken dreams as well. Hoping they would come true and never did. My husband's family were not close to me. You are family with me as well. Have a nice day my friend.

Hi Silent, Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a comment. If it wasn't for your last contest (hunger) this poem wouldn't exist. Have a great weekend:-) Alexis

Hi Jennifer, I am overwhelmed by such a comment and your kindness. When I see a contest my muse leads and guides me on what to write. Sometimes it actually happened to me and other times it's pure fiction. In this it was pure fiction. Thanks for your concern and thanks for welcoming me as family I accept. I'm sending you love right back. Have a wonderful weekend my friend:-) Alexis

I can relate to your broken dream and heartfelt verse Alexis...we all have them...all I wanted was a family, white picket fence...a mortgage perhaps and a dog named Sue...seriously...ok maybe not the dog named Sue or the mortgage...but just a family of my own...still waiting...your my family now...^WW^ :o)

I appreciate you saying that I'm your family now ( Shall I call your brother or cousin?) Reguarding my poem it is pure fiction, I was inspired to write it from Silent One's hunger contest. Have fantastic weekend fam:-) Alexis

Alexis, when I read a poem such as this that moves me I can't help but want to know if it is fact or fiction! I was touched by a dream redirected in such a painfully rude, draining way but if this is true, I know other dream seeds in you will blossom Alexis' buds of brilliance. An emotional write that will stay with me awhile ... CayCay
