Deserted

Deserted
By Kevin Robey
November 15, 2013

Shocked as hell I made it this far
Starving out here, the art is bizarre
Dancing around, the shadows taunt me
Like the sun blinding me until I can’t see

Can’t recall how long I’ve been stuck out here
Fearing what I remember will surely disappear
It’s becoming a haze, the surrounding landscape
Losing everything as my reflection changes shape

Wandering alone, but it’s better this way
Fading away from the hell of yesterday
Hungrier today won’t waste these words away
Let them save me now, hold them at the bay

The demons stay away in the sea of broken dreams
A starving man deserted here, it isn’t what it seems
Don’t look for my corpse, cause I won’t sleep again
I won’t let the demons win and penetrate my skin

See me off into that distant sunset horizon once more
Where I’m heading now isn’t where I was before
I’ll keep on walking west till’ I burn into the sun
Come with me my skeletons, the damage left undone
