Desert Eyes

While leaping o'er the desert brush
from hidden spot
you saw me not
and briefly midst that human hush
I relished in the moment caught.
Then sudden noise of clapping hands
“oh where the source”
Surprising force !
Your hurried eyes the desert scans
and quickly come to me of course.

The snow and cold surround me now
the thistles gone
they've all withdrawn
and yet I look....with hope somehow
that desert wolf I'll light upon.

Riveting tale. You have captured the tension in both man and animal at the precise moment. Late maybe, but let me welcome you to Poetry Soup. Smiles from the isles. :) Kim
