Depression Is

Depression is that wicked beast who sucks your soul from your body. It feeds on your brain until it seems not a single cell remains. Worst of all it hardens your heart so that no love may enter or exit. Total words=40 written 12/05/2016

Jean, I think you hit it on the head when talking about no love being able to enter or exit. With poetry - and indeed, with the internet, being online, etc. - I can see the "exit" part being aided, and the PoetrySoup crew seem to be admirably receptive and *gulp* quite loving in return.

Tell you what - this contest is bringing out some *great* poems. This may be an extreme example, but I've long thought that sadness is easier to write about than happiness; the joyful ones easily get maudlin, sappy, or sentimental.

Sad but true I'm afraid Jan. The good news is, I have lost half a stone without even trying, since I stopped my medication. Last spring!
