Depression

You feel it in the pit of your stomach
A dread that you can't comprehend
Heavy and dark and foreboding
Like you just want the world to end

It comes at you out of nowhere
To steal your hope and your joy
Heavy and dark and foreboding
Like stealing a child's favourite toy

Everything seems overwealming
Getting out of bed is a chore
Heavy and dark and foreboding
Like an apple, rotten at its core

You know that life could feel better
But you just can't figure out how
Heavy and dark and foreboding
Like happiness can't happen now

Inside of your head you are screaming
But from your mouth there's no word
Heavy and dark and foreboding
Like the taunt of a cruel mockingbird

So for now you wait in the darkness
Trapped in your minds cocoon
Heavy and dark and foreboding
Like a prisioner locked in a tomb

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
