Depression

Depression is.
Writing an essay.
The words are blurry.
Not from tears, but from forgetfulness.
Commas turn to scribbles and scratching my eyes.
Depression is.
Breathing heavy at the computer.
Typing and fumbling.
The computer glitches.
The printer is out of ink.
So I’ll just drop out, I’ll just throw my backpack into the pond, and fail, fail, fail.
Depression is.
Turning it in anyway.
Getting a B Plus.
I never learn anything around here.
I still stay in school.
That’s all I care about.
And that’s what depression is.
