Denial

Do not call me happy– I’m just simply trying to cope; With the faint detection of a fake smile And the slight feel of lost hope. Do not call me cheery – Because I am all and anything but; I merely prance around my very way As I keep everything locked and shut. Do not call me joyful – I only let you see what I give; I shield myself from prying eyes, So I could survive, endure, and live. Do not call me by any name I would never want to be entitled; Let me label myself for once – For I am simply named… Denial.
