Definition of Happiness

The princess walks to her ornate window
adorned in a blue dress with red pearls
innocent wishes oppressed under their weight
desiring to walk freely in those green fields
raindrops seeping into parched layers of her soul
she longs to be happy beyond grand castle walls

The little girl hides under a tattered tent
raindrops dripping her precious torn frock
her frayed spirits covered in borrowed rags
dreaming of soft dry velvet bed in a cosy home
waking up to cocooned walls scattering sunlight
she longs to be happy beyond green fields

Happiness floats swaying between the two
to each their own

So much one can relate with, we all can see the desirable aspects of what we don't have and miss the blessings of what we do have. Such wisdom. Love your musings, Aditi ~ John

Wow! So wonderfully contrasted, we often forget that happiness lies in the little things and that the grass looks greener on the other side, well expressed, Aditi:)

I find this to be an intriguing juxtaposition of stanzas, a true balancing act on the teeter-tauter of happiness, Aditi! Warm wishes, Gershon
