Defend
After going through my phone
And finding the fight that I had
With a now ex-friend
My grandmother says
"It's better to be nice"
I said nothing
But the meaning of this poem
Is not silence
It is not better to be nice
It is better to defend yourself
Please do not sit in silence
Do not fear being called
"Stubborn"
It is a synonym
For strong,
Independent girl
When your points are valid
Stand by them
When they tell you to shut up
You have won
Because there is absolutely
Nothing else for them to say
They are at a loss for words
Because yours were strong enough
And stronger
Remember this
Fight for yourself
For others
For what you believe in
Do not let those
Who are ignorant
Who will never recognize
They are wrong discourage you
For you are a fire
That will burn
For centuries
