Deep Within

Deeper than the deep Mariana Trench
is the depths of my being's inner shrine
wherein hands of despair reach out to quench
the thirst of gloom as though with love benign

Virtues and vices oppose and resist
each other's moves, like mongooses and snakes
Faiths and doctrines struggle to coexist.
There's never a cure for my inner aches.

A little hope yet clings to my dark nook.
like a dewdrop on the tip of a leaf
This makes my existence flow like a brook
cooling me amidst the heat of every grief

My Mariana Trench has rare treasure.
Am I not rich within, beyond measure?

Great imagery. Loved: a dewdrop on the tip of a leaf. Happy New Year.
