Deep Into the Narrative

I'm falling
I feel me slipping a little each day
Slipping deep into the internal narrative
I'm just one thought away

It could have been spurred on by a sight
Or a distinct smell in the air
Something I touched
A strong sense that triggered me to care

My emotions alert me
The thoughts begin to grab hold
I create a narrative
An internal dialogue that seems to freely flow

I must remember, it's not the situation or people that bothers me
It's how deep into the narrative I go
When I stop the dialogue
Is when I gain control
