Deep In Waiting

For so long I've been
the sentinel of breaking patience,
a vigilant devotee
at the gates of winter.

I've been a champion of Reverie,
a desperate Demeter in waiting
for warmth that's deeper
than faith or flesh...

but nothing melts through
my layers of numb.
