Dedication To Life -Contest

This is my final dedication, but it is not to something tangible,
this is a final dedication to something we all share.
This is my glorious exit and final farewell,
and I am going to dedicate this to life.

We come into this place as a blank slate,
and we don't choose our parents or fate.
It is so remarkable when we come out of the womb,
at that moment, anything is possible, from there to our tomb.

It is such a powerful thing, whether you believe in god or not,
knowing, to that little creation, anything can be taught.
Although tragically, we don't all get the same chances,
even with all our technology, knowledge, and advances.

Being able to breathe and enjoy the sun or the night sky,
or having your heart race after that first kiss and saying good night, goodbye.
And when you have those times and days when the atmosphere is just right,
that everything is perfect, and you realize what you had that night.

No matter if you have no money, hate your job, or are depressed,
you can still go out, and live your life to the best.
Always remember, that tomorrow is never guaranteed,
and everyone gets hurt at some point, because we all bleed.

No one knows when they are going to die, so we see life as endless.
How many more times will you watch the sunset in complete bliss?
Or how many more times will you watch the full moon rise?
Perhaps 20, yet it all seems limitless because we see it with our eyes.
But you only get a certain, small number of chances to do these things.
So go do what you desire, spread your wings.

Your poem was so inspiring it gave me chills, Chris. We take life for granted and seem to forget that everything will come to an end one day. This is a terrific entry for the contest (uses a unique approach -- I've seen many of the entries) and I must say this one is priceless! Best wishes for success, not only in the contest, but in spreading your wings and living life to the fullest each day. Love, Carolyn
