Decision

my stomach twisted
like roots
of an aged oak
around stones
of uncertainty
slow moving sap
drowning me
when quiet has arrived
as cool rain
when i hear

then i scream
silently
seen not heard
with my thoughts
trapped
like a caged bird
shamed
if i set them free
piercing my soul
no release
no ease
struggling with self
my head and heart
knowledge and feeling
locking horns
for a grueling
bloody duel
in this battle
one will breathe
the other smothered
these two enemies
governed by either alone
a tragedy
what will be
