Deciduous

Deciduous 9-9-24
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Deciduous
Artic flares beat upon my dark cocoon
I come in silence to hide from the dark
To bind my wounds with sunlit afternoons
Wrapping my pain with loneliness, so stark,
In isolation like a sinful moon
Spinning silken petals, a newborn ark
Whiplashed by regret’s compulsive rune
And bear the weight of fear - forever marked.
From a single thread my world hangs upside down,
A maze of anguish, labyrinth of tears,
Fluttering in restless desolation,
When a song of grace like softest eiderdown
Peels away each petal from nascent spheres
To fall away from a new creation.
Dear Sam, I loved reading your poem as it so effectively shows that through darkness and struggles we can find rebirth and renewal. I love the metaphors and how you presented. Excellent Read! - Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel
Dear samszy, i can resonate with this poel very strongly, sometimes when things get overwhelming etc i think silence and isolation is the best to reflect and find light within again. What a profound and heartfelt poem this is! I love the metaphors alliteration’s rhymes and rhythm of your poem woven with such eloquent imagery! So many great lines in this especially “ From a single thread my world hangs upside down, A maze of anguish, labyrinth of tears, Fluttering in restless desolation,” this hits home really! I loved this! Best wishes for the contest! Sending you light always
I loved this, I read the poem first, and to be honest did not know the meaning of the title, had to look it up, and this made me smile, brought the poem to light, its a very long story, but was very touching to me on another level as well.
