Deceptions of the Heart
Funny how a path can lead you to the truth when you least expect it.
Life’s crazy way of leading the blind to what they choose not to see.
What stubborn hearts won’t let us hear when we’re deafened by sweet words.
Words desired by a heart more than willing to listen.
From the start you came into my life with deception being your intention.
To ravish what purity of love my soul still had to give someone.
With your charm you lured me in like bait on a hook.
With your kiss you stained my lips with your poison.
With your hands you singed my skin with sinful touches meant for lovers.
You had me right where you wanted me, breathless, paralyzed, and yearning for more.
For another dose of the illusory love you portrayed for me.
Wasn’t long before you suddenly had to go, to where I wondered?
Back to where you had come from in the first place, to her arms, her lips and her heart.
Unwittingly to her or me at the game of hopscotch you were playing between our hearts.
Undeserving of the heartache at the discovery of your unfaithfulness.
How dare you toy with the emotion of the heart with the chance of damage being unrepairable.
To reduce my heart to useless fragments of bleeding flesh within my chest.
Like a snake charmer you hypnotized me to believe your lies.
Using me as just some stepping stone to carry you further than you could go alone.
Miserable in your own exsistence of what the game of life has dealt you.
You found me and played your hand to your own advantages.
The sad part is I seen so much more in you than a mirror would’ve reflected.
Perhaps if that mirror had been two sided I would’ve seen straight through you.
Damaged and broken you left me to heal what you had destroyed.
Every tear fell with purpose of sealing the seams of my broken heart.
Repairing all that will be shielded more vigilantly than before.
