December Days-DD
December for me is time that is blest,
Like nature, it is a moment for rest,
Time to recuperate, for quiet thought,
To brush up afresh battles bravely fought,
To review my vision and my mission
And plan ahead for future direction.
The trees are bare and blank with branches stark
Against a sky that is dim, dull and dark,
The air is freezing crisp, a biting chill
That sneaks inside the nose against one`s will,
Compelling one to hang around at home
Benignly observe nature`s brewing storm.
Inside, glittering lights begin to gleam
Arousing delightful, dazzling day dreams
While outside, Christmas bulbs, a rainbow bright,
Dispel the darkness of the longer nights,
Heralding the joyous festive season,
In the dimness, glowing like a beacon.
In churches carols hum a gentle sound
As committed devotees gather around,
Chanting prayers, heeding to sermons told,
Sharing memories valued more than gold
While snow flakes like cotton begin to fall,
A serene, silent, sheet covering all.
At home, sweet smells of spice, candies and pine,
Long-dated remembrances, truly mine,
Together with cookies and frosted sweet
Create a festive, joyful, tasty treat,
A time to share with others, near and far
And make wishes upon a guiding star.
December days cold, holds for me sweet grace,
Offers a soothing, slower, smoother pace,
A time to tarry, to think and to be,
To offer myself a moment quite free,
A time for reflection, serene and deep
Before the earth awakens from its sleep.
